Diving cylinder 3 litres 232bar complete with valve
In diving, tanks with a capacity of 10 to 15 litres are normally used to carry breathing gases. The safety-conscious diver uses twin tanks to have two independent systems under water. But why 3 litre tanks? The spread of technical diving means that these small tanks are used in two main ways. Firstly, they are used as storage cylinders for argon to fill the dry suit with argon. Argon has only 1/5 the thermal conductivity of air. Filling the drysuit with argon creates a cosy feeling of warmth.
However, 3 litre tanks are also used in rebreathers as oxygen cylinders or as diluent gas cylinders. The spread of c has led to an increasing demand for these small scuba tanks.
